The Lutheran Church of Mahomet met today to take a third "first" vote.  It passed 97-43 (69.3%).  Their second vote is not yet scheduled, but will probably be in June.  Please redouble your prayer on their behalf.

Rooms at Convocation

Terry Lundeen, of Christ the King, DeSoto, has made arrangement for motel at the Convocation in August.  It is at the Super 8.  There can be a great advantage to our Mission District if our delegates and visitors can stay in the same motel.  Great fellowship and growth in mission can take place as we hang out together.  Please share with those who will be going from our congregations.  Be sure to mention that you are part of the Great Rivers Mission District.

Your Dean

The following is to confirm your stay with during the dates of August

Worship and Celebration

From Pastor Carl Rasmussen at First, Kirkland, IL:

Greetings to you in the Lord from a fellow member of the North American Lutheran Church and Great Rivers Mission District! I want to share with you our excitement at First Lutheran Church, Kirkland, as we anticipate welcoming the Rev. Dr. Gemechis Buba and the Rev. Dr. James Nestingen as guest preacher and presenter at our morning Worship and Mission Festival on Sunday, March 4, 2012. Our anticipation for this festive day is growing!

Please also know that we would welcome visitors from your congregation who would like to come and join us that day!
The schedule for this event on March 4 is as follows: 9:00 AM: Service of Holy Communion, with Pastor Buba preaching 10:30 AM: Pastor Nestingen's presentation on his recent missionary service in Ethiopia 12:00 Noon: A catered meal for all in attendance
My congregation and I are so overjoyed to be part of the NALC, and we look forward to growing relationships and fellowship with all of you, our fellow Great Rivers Mission District congregations. I hope to hear from you soon, either with the news that some of your people may join us on March 4, or with just a greeting as we all get to know one another better.
If any of your members decide to come, I urgently ask that you contact me by February 25 with an estimate as to how many we can expect from your congregation. We are fairly new at planning big events, and any estimate, guess, or approximation would be of great value to us in our planning.
Please share in our excitement by your prayers for us, that the morning will be a great blessing for all in attendance, and far many people beyond Kirkland as well.
